Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Surfboard
This surfboard build was for friends of mine that operate the non-profit organization "Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre". The surfboard was auctioned off in a silent auction at one of their funding raising events. You can see more of the great work they do at: http://cwrc.net and their youtube channel. Recently they have just finished a large raptor facility where they can rehabilitate large birds of prey, seeing an eagle flying in close proximity is amazing!
This was around my 5th surfboard build back in 2009, it was made using XPS insulation foam. From what I remember I used a 6oz fiberglass on top and double 6oz fiberglass on bottom, covered using SurfSource epoxy and clear-coated with automotive lacquer. I don't think I would recommend the SurfSource epoxy as it has a yellow tinge to it. I have since switched to Resin Research and haven't looked back, it is water clear. |
